Top Secret: A New Chapter for this Newsletter
We're at an inflection point and pivoting Top Secret to focus on product depth, real user questions, and transparency.
Hey everyone, we’ve got a meaningfully different newsletter format for you next week. We’re at an inflection point with the business, in which we’re getting lots of questions from prospective and current customers. We knew eventually we would pivot this newsletter to focus closely on the product and less on shenanigans. Today is that day.
In terms of general updates: Ulysse will be joining the GitHub Open Source Fridays livestream this week, more details on that here.
Also, this is the last week to take advantage of our July cookie promotion, in which we bake and bring cookies to anyone who signs up for Tesseral and logs in a user. Is it worth it, you might ask? Well, here’s a totally unsolicited review of our baking prowess for you:
I’ll still be posting fun stuff to Twitter/X (you can follow me here). Now, onto the newsletter.
What We Shipped Last Week
The new and improved Tesseral onboarding flow is officially live, complete with a checklist to set up your Project: setting up SAML, OAuth, and MFA; testing your setup with a live login via your Vault; and viewing / managing organizations within your Project. We also published our new Django SDK.
A Real Question We Answered
We were asked: “How do you differentiate from WorkOS, Clerk, and BetterAuth?”
Here’s what we said: “All are great companies with good products. There are some important points of differentiation, though. We're the only provider that is both open source and purpose-built for B2B users. Unlike WorkOS, Clerk, and BetterAuth, Tesseral is opinionated by design. We abstract away a lot of the complexity you'll experience with other providers to give you a full, enterprise-ready stack (orgs, roles, SSO, API keys, user impersonation, etc.) in just a few lines of code. We're also self-hostable, which gives you a lot of flexibility.”
Some Content We Published
And Here is a Total Non Sequitur from Our Slack Channel
That’s all for this week. As always, please reach out if you have any questions, feedback, comments, etc. for us, we love hearing from you.
Thanks,
Ned
